About Nick
Nick Chamernik is a freelance Lighting Designer, Head Electrician, and Theater Technician based in the Chicago area. As a multifaceted artist, Nick revels in his ability to blend his creative expression and technical aptitude with a passion for collaborative and innovative storytelling.
Nick has an extensive background in the development, fabrication, and implementation of lighting plots, generating/updating related paperwork, scheduling and hiring freelance labor, managing budgets, directing and supervising union and non-union crews, running focus calls, and programming on ETC EOS family consoles.
Nick has had the opportunity to work with a plethora of incredible theatre companies such as Goodman Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Chicago Children’s Theatre, Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire, Manual Cinema, Theater Wit, Remy Bumppo Theatre Company, Shattered Globe Theatre, Porchlight Music Theatre, American Blues Theater, Oil Lamp Theater, Hangar Theatre Company, Illinois Shakespeare Festival, and others.
When he’s not busy freelancing, Nick can typically be found creative writing, listening to podcasts, playing tabletop role-playing games, and (weather permitting) swimming.
